In this tutorial, Simulation cyclic loading of the reduce beam section-column with a stiffener in Abaqus has been investigated. The RBS part is modeled as a three-dimensional shell part, the box column, and the stiffener is modeled as three-dimensional shell parts. You can see a figure of the assembled parts at below

The steel material is used for all parts as elastic-plastic material with ductile damage criterion to consider damage zone and to predict the failed area of the structure. The general static step was used. The contact between stiffener or steel angle and column, stiffener and reduce section beam is considered as perfect contact. The load is applied to the end of the beam as a displacement with tabular amplitude to define loading protocol. The column was fixed at the ends. The quality of the mesh has a great effect on the result

After the simulation failed zone, damaged area, stress, strain,…..can be available. You can see some figures for the result below
