In this tutorial, the Simulation embankment construction with geocell on the saturate soil in Abaqus has been investigated. The soil is modeled as a two-dimensional shell part and it was separated to zone as a dry and saturate. The embankment is modeled as a two-dimensional shell part and it was separated to three zones. The geocell layers are modeled as two-dimensional wire part. You can see figures of the assembled parts below

To model soil behavior, elastic-plastic material with permeability to consider pore pressure value during the analysis is used. The elastic material is selected for the geocell parts. In the first step, the Geostatic step is considered to obtain equilibrium in the all parts. In the second step the soil step is selected and during that, the first layer of geocell is added to the model. Totally seven steps are defined to apply all the layers of the embankment and geocell to the model. At the end the soil step with long time period is used to make consolidation in the model. All interactions are assigned to the three layers of the embankment and geocells. The fixed boundary condition is assigned to the bottom side of the soil and also zero pore pressure to the dry zone. The body force load is applied to the all parts and also the initial stress because of the elevation is assigned to the soil. The mesh should be fine to achieve the good results

After the simulation, all results such as stress, displacement, pore pressure, settlement, diagrams, and … are obtainable. You can see some figures for the results below
