In this tutorial simulation of laminated composites subjected to three-point bending in Abaqus has been investigated.structural applications like aircraft and automobiles because of their high specific stiffness, high specific strength, good fatigue resistance and light weight coupled with an increasing emphasis on energy conservation. The forced assembly is a common problem for composite parts due to their poor fit-up conditions between the mating surfaces.During forced assembly process of composite parts in aircraft industry, the major internal stresses, which may cause delamination in the laminates, are induced by bending loads. Therefore, flexural behavior of laminated composites should be of particular concern during forced assembly.You can see a figure of the assembled parts at below
Composites laminate are modeled as continuum shell with Hashin’s damage property. Dynamic explicit procedure which used to consider the behavior between composites laminate.Cohesive behavior is assigned as cohesive surface behavior with damage property between laminates surfaces. The boundary conditions are assigned to the rigid bodies . The quality of mesh has a good effect over the results..
